Abby Feinknopf is a self-taught, mixed-media artist who strives in her own small way to rescue and repurpose the discarded. Her art is a direct reflection of her childhood inspirations: story telling, classic literature and poetry, her Grandfather’s watercolor paintings, and the Chinese relics from her mother’s childhood in pre-war Hong Kong.
Abby holds a B.A. degree in English from West Virginia University, and has enhanced her education through numerous art workshops across the country, taught by mixed-media artists focusing on fabric, photo-transfer, metal and found objects.
Abby has been featured in Belle Armoire; Somerset Memories; The Columbus Dispatch; and Business First. She has exhibited at the Textile Center in Minneapolis, and locally at The Columbus Center for Paper and Book Arts, High Road Gallery, Helen Winnemore Craft, Gallery M. Collections, Columbus Metropolitan Library and the Bexley Public Library. She has taught fabric-related workshops at the Ohio Craft Museum and in the Bexley School system. Abby remains an active member of the Ohio Art League (OAL), German Village Art League (GVAL), Ohio Designer Craftsmen (ODC) and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
Abby resides in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and two sons.
