Holding a B.A. in English from West Virginia University, I am a self-taught artist with years of corporate and creative writing, illustration, and marketing experience. Both my writing and artwork have been published in various magazines including Parents, Belle Armoire, Columbus Monthly, Columbus Monthly Home & Garden, Columbus Weddings, Ohio State Alumni Magazine and GreenCraft.
I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW).
In writing, I love researching and interviewing, for the ability to learn what others are passionate about and to bring their stories to light.
My illustrations are whimsical and I love color... precisely why I was never happy until I had the jumbo box of crayons, WITH the sharpener!!
I'm all about humorous subtleties!
I especially get a kick out of kids...without them, the English language would not have the term, unabashed,
for who else can pull off wearing cowboy boots, purple tights, a sparkly tu-tu with untamed bedhead?
And they are the absolute experts on the silliest of subjects...
("Oh yeah? Well I knew someone who ate frog legs without ketchup and he never even died!")
The irony is kids have a lot to teach us...like every laugh should be a belly laugh or you're not having fun!
